The BMW Head-Up Display has an integrated smartphone interface. Manufacturer Garmin offers a free, country-specific navigation app. In addition to relevant vehicle data, navigation directions from the app can also be displayed on the screen.
All settings can be made via the free "Head-Up Screen" app.
Depending on the vehicle, additional accessories may be required.
- The BMW Head-Up Display offers the driver two main functions: it displays current vehicle information and navigation directions from the free navigation app.
- All information is always in the driver's direct field of vision.
- The information can be read very well even in direct sunlight.
- In the dark, the display automatically adjusts the brightness according to the vehicle's instruments.
- Additionally, the brightness can be adjusted via the "Head-Up Screen" app.
- The elegant black frame of the BMW Head-Up Display does not reflect sunlight, thus preventing the driver from being dazzled.

- The screen can be installed in the vehicle by the workshop in approximately one hour.
- The crash-tested original BMW accessory is attached with a special adhesive connection.
- Residue-free installation or removal is possible at any time.
- The "Head-Up Screen" app can be used to make adjustments to the BMW Head-Up Display, such as adjusting the brightness, switching various parameters on and off, performance and torque.
- The screen automatically connects via Wi-Fi to the smartphone.
Vehicle information:
- Various warnings are displayed on the BMW Head-Up Display, such as the reserve light when the fuel level is low or the ice warning when temperatures are low.
- Other functions include the performance indicator, the current engine torque indicator and the display of the speed set in the cruise control*, traffic warnings and the display of speed limits and metres above sea level*.
- The contents of the separately available M Performance Drive Analyser can also be transmitted via Wi-Fi and in real time to the BMW Head-Up Display.
- Vehicle information arrives in real time directly through the vehicle's CAN bus.
