The E46 is one of the best-looking 3 Series BMW has ever built, and the four round lights in its headlights look as if they were made for angel eyes. With this kit, your E46 gets four pure white LED halo rings (the famous angel eyes), two per headlight: BMW's most recognisable light signature, a modern, clean look that stands out from a distance, especially at night. Will it fit my BMW?

• YES: every BMW 3 Series E46 (1998-2006). Saloon, Touring, coupé, convertible, Compact (from 2001) and M3, before and after the facelift (LCI), with halogen or xenon headlights.
• Ask us before buying if your E46 already has rings or its headlights have been replaced. Checking the headlights isn't foolproof: rings fitted later may not light up because the bulb has blown or they're faulty, and replacement headlights can look like the originals. If in doubt, send us your VIN and two photos of the front of your car (lights on and lights off) and tell us whether the headlights have been replaced or rings fitted before.
• NO, if you have a different BMW (an older or newer 3 Series, a 5 Series…): these rings are made for the E46's headlights. If that BMW has factory bulb-powered rings, what it needs is the LED angel eye bulbs, and if it doesn't have rings, you'll find the kit for its model on that same page, if there is one; if its rings are factory LED or were fitted later, ask us before buying.

When you buy, choose your E46's body style, year of manufacture and headlight type:

1. Body style: Saloon (4-door), Coupé / Cabrio (2-door or convertible), Touring (estate), Compact (3-door) or M3. The E46 Compact was only built from 2001 onwards: if yours is older, it's an E36; ask us before buying.
2. Year of manufacture: the year your car was built, which may differ from the year of first registration.
3. Headlight type: Halogen or Xenon.

E46 headlights vary depending on the body style, the year (before or after the facelift) and the headlight type, and the rings have to fit yours. If you're unsure of the year of manufacture or the headlight type, or can't find your combination, ask us before buying and send us your VIN and two photos of the front of your car.

Professional installation not included in the price: before buying, ask a workshop with headlight experience for an installation quote so you know the total cost. In 99% of cases the headlight has to be opened with heat and resealed (we explain this below).

Installation: only at a workshop with headlight experience

The rings go inside the headlight, around its round lights. That's why, in 99% of cases, the job involves:

1. Removing the headlight from the car.
2. Opening it by separating the lens with heat.
3. Fitting the rings and connecting them.
4. Resealing the headlight and refitting it.

It must be done by a professional with extensive headlight experience. If it's done badly, the headlight can break or end up poorly sealed and let in moisture or water. Done properly, the rings sit inside the headlight with a clean, integrated finish.

What we'll ask you for after you buy

Once you've completed your purchase, we'll send you a link where you can provide:

• Your VIN (vehicle identification number): 17 characters; it appears on your vehicle registration document (the V5C logbook in the UK) and other official vehicle papers.
• Two photos of the front of your car: one with the lights on (sidelights are enough) and one with the lights off.

Also tell us whether the headlights have been replaced or rings fitted before. We use this to check the option you've bought: that your car is a 3 Series E46 without rings already fitted and that the kit is the right one for your headlights (body style, year of manufacture and headlight type). Shipping is subject to that check: if something doesn't match, we'll get in touch before we ship. The sooner you send us the information, the sooner your order arrives.

Can I fit it if my BMW already has factory angel eyes?

No. The kit is only for cars that don't have them as standard: if yours has bulb-powered ones, what you need is the LED angel eye bulbs. This doesn't apply to the E46, because none of them had angel eyes from the factory: if yours already has rings, they were fitted later and you need to ask us before buying.

My E46 has xenon headlights. Will it fit?

Yes. No E46 has factory angel eyes, not even with xenon. Choose “Xenon” under “Headlight type” when you buy, because the rings have to fit that headlight.

Can I fit it myself at home?

No. It must be fitted by a professional with extensive headlight experience: the headlight has to be opened with heat and resealed, and if it's done badly, the headlight can break or let in moisture or water.

Will I get a warning on the dashboard?

The wiring has CANBUS error cancellers, designed to prevent that. If a warning does appear on your car, message us and we'll look into it with you.
